Samson Schmitt, born on September 20st 1979, learned to play the guitar by his great father Dorado Schmitt.He debuts for the first time at the age of 12 on the "Festival international de jazz de Munich" in Munich.
This concert combines talented and gifted "children" like him, or Timbo Mehrstein (Violine), Yano Scordoet and Jouani Scordo on Rhythm-Guitars.
Samson is the perfect example of the oral tradition in the Manouche-Families, transmitting the heritage of Django solely orally.
Form 1990 to 1999 Samson play in the band of his father, the "Dorado Schmitt Quintet" with Kaki Weiss (Bass) and Hono and Gino Reinhardt (Guitars).
Since 2000 / 2001 he plays in different formatioons like Alexandre CAVALIERE, Tchavolo Schmitt, Povro SINTO, Angelo DeBarre (Trio Corse), Jimmy Rosenberg and his own group the "Samson Schmitt Quartett".
Gigs at many Festivals and concerts are the way: Sinti Jazz Night (Munich), Jazz sur le Feu à St-André les Vergers, Gipsy Swing Festival d’Angers, le Festival Manouche « Appona » in Strasbourg, Le festival de l’Espace Georges Pompidou in Vincennes, France.
Samson Schmitt plays with all greats of the busniess: Dominique DI PIAZZA , James CARTER, Angelo DeBarre, Yorgi Loeffler, Mike Reinhardt, Mayo HUBERT, Gigi Loeffler, Ludovic BEIER and many more.
