David Reinhardt, born 1966 in Longjumeau (France), is Django Reinhardts grandson and Son of Babik Reinhardt, the younger son of Django. Thus David is the only direct relative of the great guitar genius.The playing of David is exactly in the great tradition of his anchetors: lyrical, emotional, exactly on the point with that certain touch of swing - all the ingredients for a young and incredible talented musician.
David is making his first appereance at the side of his famous father Babik at the age of six on May 14th 1993 playing at the "Django d’Or Festival" «Trophées Internationaux du Jazz» in the Théâtre de Boulogne-Billancourt. And, as his father, David is also taking up the heritage of his grandfather Django Reinhardt, the "father of European Jazz" playing it dignified.
Meahwhile he is playing on all big Jazzfestivals in France and all over the world: Festival Jazz de Montréal, Festival Jazz In de Juan-les-Pins, Festival des Guitares du Monde au Québec, Festival Django de Samois-sur-Seine, Festival Django de Liberchies, Jazz à Vienne, Jazz à Liège, Centre Culturel d’Alger, Théâtre de Tunis, Jazz in Marciac, Festival Internazionale Jazz Manouche de Turin, Midem de Cannes, Augsburg Django Reinhardt Memorial ... etc.
His own great idols are (except his famous grandfather Django), George Benson, Pat Matheney, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass and other modern Jazz-Guitarrists.
With his new « David Reinhardt Trio » Django´s grandson is only offering the best to the audience that is available, always in djangophile Tradition - but still in his own language.
